Community Watch
Medearis has an active Community Watch that alerts our residents with
any suspicious or criminal activity and safety concerns via email and
Facebook. We actively liase with our local police to improve safety and
security, and address any concerns our residents may have.
If you are going out of town and would like to request a “zone check” while you are away, contact the CMPD Independence
Division at
(704) 336-2890 and give your information and dates you will be away to whoever is on duty. Officers will
check on your residence for any signs of suspicious activity (open windows/doors, vehicles in driveway that otherwise
should not be there, suspicious subjects on foot in area, etc).
Did you know you can sign up to receive alerts from CharMeck?
The
CharMeck Alerts Notification System
informs you of emergency alerts from your local fire or police department, severe weather and health alerts,
Amber and Silver alerts, and/or community alerts.
You can choose to receive emergency and/or non-emergency alerts through your chosen method: an email, a phone call to your home phone
or a text message to your cell phone. You can also sign-up for up to 5 areas, so that you can include your home, work, schools, etc.
There is also an app available to receive these alerts. The mobile application is available on both Droid
and IOS operating platforms by searching for "EverBridge". Once the application is installed, you can login
using your username and password you received during the online registration process, or you can register directly from the mobile app.
CharMeck Alerts
relays accurate and timely notifications of the information you want and need
to know—straight from your local leaders. Alerts are geographically targeted and include options for both emergency
alerts and non-emergency alerts related to your local government services.
More information can be found at the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department,
or you can contact your Community Watch street captain for assistance (see the newsletter or directory).
